About Painting in the Primary School
This book is written in the belief that young children need to be taught
essential artistic concepts and skills just as they need to be taught ideas and
skills in Mathematics, English, and many other subjects. Art is a much neglected
subject in far too many primary schools.
It is intended to help the general practitioner who has to teach all subjects, including art, but who may have no special qualifications, or talents, for the task. If you come into this category don't despair because I am convinced that this little book will help you to form a right attitude to your task of helping the young children in your care to paint with some success, and enjoy painting. In addition, dare I say it, you too will enjoy teaching painting, and may very well look forward to the painting session with cheerful anticipation, instead of dread and foreboding.
